Our gas engineers in Acton are out on W3 jobs most weeks, and Acton is our home patch. We repair and service boilers, find central heating faults, connect gas hobs and cookers, and look after gas fires in the period houses around Acton Town, the flats above the shops on the High Street and the newer blocks off the Uxbridge Road. Every engineer who works on gas in your home is Gas Safe registered, and you will see their ID card before they start. If something needs more than a quick fix, we explain the options in plain language and price the work before we pick up a tool. That is the same whether the job is in North Acton or by the Steyne.
Plenty of local homes have been split into flats, which means boilers squeezed into kitchen cupboards and flues running through shared walls. Whether you need a heating engineer to get the radiators working again or a Gas Safe fitter for a gas hob installation, we check the flue, the ventilation and the gas supply on every visit, so you know the whole system is safe and not just the part we came to fix. We also leave you with the paperwork for any gas appliance we fit or test.
We also cover the whole of West London, including Richmond, Shepherds Bush, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Ealing, Barnes, Notting Hill, Kensington, Fulham and Putney. Find our gas engineers in Acton on Google Maps.
Most of our Acton customers find us through a neighbour or a friend down the road. Here is what people say once the job is done.

Boilers
Acton has a real mix of boilers. We see old floor-standing units still running in the Edwardian houses near Acton Park, system boilers with hot water cylinders in the larger Mill Hill Park homes, and compact combis in the flat conversions along Churchfield Road. We diagnose the fault on whatever you have, show you the failed part, and give you the price of the repair before we start. If a boiler really is past saving, we tell you why and quote a replacement separately. Annual services are booked at a time that suits you, ideally in late summer, so the boiler is checked and ready before the first cold week of an Acton winter.
Central heating
Cold radiators upstairs, a system that loses pressure every few days, or heating that will not come on at all. In older Acton houses the cause is often sludge in long pipe runs or a tired pump, so we trace the fault through the whole system rather than stopping at the boiler. Then we put it right.

Hobs and cookers

New kitchens are going in all over W3, from extensions in South Acton to refits in the conversions near Acton Central station. We connect gas hobs, cookers and range cookers, disconnect the old appliance on the same visit, and test the supply before and after so the new one is safe to use. You get a certificate too.
Whether you have bought a gas cooker, range cooker, oven or hob, we connect it safely and disconnect your old one on the same visit. Once it is fitted and tested, you get a gas safety certificate for the installation.
Some gas problems in an Acton home can wait a day or two and some cannot. This is how to tell the difference before you pick up the phone. If in doubt, ask.

Plan ahead
Acton's housing changes street by street, and so does the gas work. The Victorian and Edwardian houses in the Mill Hill Park conservation area and around Acton Green often still have long gas runs under timber floors, with the occasional back boiler or old gas fire left in a front room. On the Old Oak estate in East Acton, built by the London County Council as cottage-style homes, boilers have usually been moved two or three times, and the flues need checking against today's rules. The ex-council blocks of South Acton are being replaced by the new Acton Gardens development, where the flats have modern systems but very little room around the boiler, so we plan those jobs before we arrive. North Acton is now mostly tall residential towers next to the Park Royal trading estates, and some of those buildings run a shared heating system instead of a boiler in each flat. Older mansion flats near Acton Central add their own puzzle, with risers shared between several homes.
That variety is why we ask a few questions when you call. Knowing whether your Acton home is a converted Victorian house, an East Acton cottage or a new-build flat tells us which fittings, flue parts and test equipment to bring, and it often saves a second trip. If your building has a shared heating system, we will tell you straight away whether the fault is ours to fix or the managing agent's. Landlords with more than one property in W3 can book their checks together, and every appliance we test is listed on the record, so you can see at a glance what was checked and what needs attention.

Straight answers to the questions Acton customers ask most about gas work.
Still not sure?
Ask an engineerYes. Fitting or connecting a gas hob or cooker is gas work, so it must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Pulling your own cooker out on its bayonet to clean behind it is fine, but a new or different appliance is an installation. We connect it, test the gas before and after, and give you a certificate. In Acton we fit a lot of hobs into new kitchen extensions, where the gas pipe often has to be rerouted, so we check the run and the ventilation before the worktop goes on.
Not always. Anyone can call themselves a plumber, but only a Gas Safe registered engineer can legally work on gas appliances such as boilers, hobs and fires. Our team covers both, so one visit can sort out the gas side and the water side of your heating.
Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away, open windows and doors, and turn the gas off at the meter if you can. Do not use switches or flames. They make the supply safe, but repairs to pipes and appliances after the meter are up to you, so call us next to trace and fix the fault.
Our gas, boiler and heating engineers charge £130 +VAT an hour, Monday to Friday, 08.00 to 17.00, with a one hour minimum and 15 minute periods after that. Parts are charged at trade price plus 25%, and a landlord gas safety record is £130 +VAT for up to two appliances. There is nothing extra for travelling to an Acton address. The only local extra is parking: in the Ealing Council zones near Acton Town we pass on the bay charge at cost.
Yes. We disconnect the old appliance, check the position and connection for the new one, then fit it and test it, all in one visit. If you want the old cooker taken away, we can do that too for a set disposal charge.
Landlords must have every gas appliance checked each year and give tenants a copy of the record within 28 days. The check can be done up to two months early and keep the same renewal date. Homeowners are not legally required to have one, but an annual service is strongly advised. Acton has a large rented market, from flats over the Churchfield Road shops to student lets near the university halls, so we carry out many landlord checks across W3 every year.
Repair first, unless there is a clear reason not to. We look at the age of the boiler, whether parts are still made and how often it has broken down, then price the repair. If replacement makes more sense, we show you why and quote it separately, with no obligation.
Call us. Repairs carry a three month written guarantee and new installations twelve months. We come back, check the work and put right anything the guarantee covers.
Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card and check both sides. The front shows their photo and licence number, and the back lists the gas work they are qualified for, such as cookers or boilers. You can also check the business on the Gas Safe Register online. Our engineers show their card on every visit.
The Italian Plumber is qualified to install, repair and service the following across Acton and West London.
Tell us what your Acton boiler, fire or hob is doing and when suits you. We will call back to book a time with a local engineer. If you have a photo of the boiler's data plate, send it along.
