Ask Samuele: September 2021

This month, Florence from Chiswick asks…

Dear Samuele,

I’m thinking about decorating my home and carrying out some general improvements.
Before I get the paint brushes out, is there anything I need to consider?

Yours sincerely,

Florence

Ciao, Florence! And grazie mille for your question.

This is an excellent question, and one that I wish more people would ask.

Before doing anything of this nature, especially if you intend to do something significant, you should always first book an inspection from both a plumber and an electrician.

That way, you can tell them about the things you want to do, and they can assess the situation and inform you of the things that may, or may not, need to be done first.

For example, as a plumber, we might need to lift up some floorboards, or repair water spillages beneath radiators. We’d also look for leaks and water stains under your bathroom, and in your ceilings.

Failing to take this course of action first, could result in you wasting a lot of time and money.

Hope this helps.

Ciao for now,

Samuele
