Ask Samuele: March 2025
This month, Steve from Wandsworth asks…
Dear Samuele,
I live in a very hard water area, which has caused a crusty build-up of limescale round the rim and in the bottom of the toilet bowl.
What’s the easiest and quickest way to get rid of it?
Yours sincerely,
Steve
Ciao, Steve. And grazie mille for your question!
First, remove the water from the toilet bowl. Don’t worry—you don’t need a plumber for this. Simply take a mop, push it into the toilet bowl, soak up as much water as possible, then squeeze the water down your bath or sink plughole. You could also use a cup to scoop it out. Repeat until the bowl is completely empty, and ensure that the rim of the toilet is dry as well.
Next, get yourself a bottle of HG Toilet Cleaner Gel—I swear by it.
Squeeze it around the rim and down the bowl, then leave it for about 30-40 minutes. Once it has worked its magic, use a toilet brush or scrubber to effortlessly brush away the limescale.
That’s it! Get ready to say hello to a fresh, sparkling WC.
Ciao for now.
Samuele
