Ealing borough is our home borough, and our gas engineers in Ealing work across W5 most weeks. We repair, service and install boilers on all major brands, fix central heating that has stopped working properly, connect gas hobs and cookers, and fit and check gas fires. Jobs range from Edwardian houses near Ealing Common and the Arts and Crafts cottages of the Brentham Garden Suburb to new flats around Dickens Yard by the Broadway. Every engineer is Gas Safe registered and shows you their ID card on arrival. We explain any fault in plain English and agree the cost before starting, and we always try the most reliable, cost effective repair before talking about replacement.
Ealing has a huge number of family houses that have grown over the years with lofts and extensions. If you need a heating engineer because some radiators stay cold, or a Gas Safe fitter to put in a gas hob, we check the boiler, flue, ventilation and pipework as part of the visit, not just the single item you rang about. Any gas appliance we fit or test comes with the paperwork to show it, which is worth keeping safe for when you sell or let the house.
We also cover the whole of West London, including Richmond, Shepherds Bush, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Ealing, Barnes, Notting Hill, Kensington, Fulham and Putney. Find our gas engineers in Ealing on Google Maps.
Word of mouth brings us most of our Ealing work, often from families who have used us for a long time. Read what they wrote after their visit, in their own words.

Boilers
Boilers in W5 vary as much as the houses. The large Victorian and Edwardian homes near Ealing Common often have system boilers and cylinders serving several bathrooms, the interwar semis of Perivale and Greenford tend to run combis fitted when the old back boiler came out, and newer flats near the Broadway have compact units in a hall cupboard. We diagnose the fault, show you the part and give you the repair price first. If replacement is the better answer, we offer a no-obligation survey and quote, and explain which type of boiler suits the way your house uses hot water.
Central heating
A tall Ealing house with radiators on three floors is hard work for a tired pump, and sludge settles in the long runs. If the top floor is cold or the pressure keeps dropping, we trace the problem through the whole system, and we can power flush where sludge is to blame, so the heating works evenly again.

Hobs and cookers

Big kitchen extensions are common across Ealing, especially in the Edwardian streets around Northfields and South Ealing. We connect gas hobs, cookers and range cookers, take away the connection to the old one, run two gas tests, check the ventilation and give you a gas safety certificate when the work is done, so the new cooker is ready to use that evening.
Whether you have bought a gas cooker, range cooker, oven or hob, we connect it safely and disconnect your old one on the same visit. Once it is fitted and tested, you get a gas safety certificate for the installation.
Some gas faults in an Ealing home can safely wait until we can book you in, and some need action at once. The panel below helps you tell which is which.

Plan ahead
Ealing has long been called the Queen of the Suburbs, and much of the Victorian and Edwardian housing behind that name is still standing. Around Ealing Common, Haven Green and Mount Park there are large villas with high ceilings, original fireplaces and gas pipes that have been extended over many years. The Brentham Garden Suburb near Pitshanger Lane, built in the early 1900s, has Arts and Crafts cottages where boilers often sit in small kitchens or converted outhouses. Northfields and South Ealing are mostly Edwardian terraces around Lammas Park, many now with loft rooms that need their heat carried up a long way. Hanwell mixes Victorian streets near the Wharncliffe Viaduct with later estates. Further west, Perivale and Greenford are mainly interwar semis along the A40, close to the art deco Hoover Building, while the centre of Ealing has new blocks of flats by the Broadway station. Each kind of home brings different boiler positions and flue routes, and we work in all of them.
Knowing which part of Ealing you live in helps us prepare. A semi in Perivale usually means a combi and a straightforward flue, while a converted villa near Haven Green may have several boilers, shared risers and a flue that runs up through another flat. When you call, a few details about the house mean the engineer arrives with the right fittings and test kit. Landlords with several W5 properties can book their checks in one go. If the fault is in a Brentham cottage with an awkward flue, we will tell you on the phone what that might involve.

Straight answers to the questions Ealing customers ask most about gas work.
Still not sure?
Ask an engineerYes. Fitting or connecting a gas hob or cooker is gas work, so it must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Pulling your own cooker out on its bayonet to clean behind it is fine, but a new or different appliance is an installation. We connect it, test the gas before and after, and give you a certificate. In Ealing, hobs often move into kitchen islands in new extensions, which means running a gas pipe under the floor. We check that route and the ventilation before the hob is fitted.
Not always. Anyone can call themselves a plumber, but only a Gas Safe registered engineer can legally work on gas appliances such as boilers, hobs and fires. Our team covers both, so one visit can sort out the gas side and the water side of your heating.
Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away, open windows and doors, and turn the gas off at the meter if you can. Do not use switches or flames. They make the supply safe, but repairs to pipes and appliances after the meter are up to you, so call us next to trace and fix the fault.
Our gas, boiler and heating engineers charge £130 +VAT an hour, Monday to Friday, 08.00 to 17.00, with a one hour minimum and 15 minute periods after that. Parts are charged at trade price plus 25%, and a landlord gas safety record is £130 +VAT for up to two appliances. Travel to an Ealing home is free. The only local cost on top is parking in the Ealing Council zones near the Broadway and West Ealing, which we add to the invoice at cost.
Yes. We disconnect the old appliance, check the position and connection for the new one, then fit it and test it, all in one visit. If you want the old cooker taken away, we can do that too for a set disposal charge.
Landlords must have every gas appliance checked each year and give tenants a copy of the record within 28 days. The check can be done up to two months early and keep the same renewal date. Homeowners are not legally required to have one, but an annual service is strongly advised. Ealing has a busy rental market, helped by students and commuters on the Elizabeth line, from flats in converted villas near Ealing Broadway to family lets in Greenford and Hanwell, so we carry out landlord gas safety checks right across the borough.
Repair first, unless there is a clear reason not to. We look at the age of the boiler, whether parts are still made and how often it has broken down, then price the repair. If replacement makes more sense, we show you why and quote it separately, with no obligation.
Call us. Repairs carry a three month written guarantee and new installations twelve months. We come back, check the work and put right anything the guarantee covers.
Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card and check both sides. The front shows their photo and licence number, and the back lists the gas work they are qualified for, such as cookers or boilers. You can also check the business on the Gas Safe Register online. Our engineers show their card on every visit.
The Italian Plumber is qualified to install, repair and service the following across Ealing and West London.
Tell us about your Ealing boiler, hob or gas fire and the days that suit you. We will call back to book a Gas Safe engineer at a convenient time. If you know the make and model of the boiler, add it to your message.
