Rugby fans know Twickenham for one big stadium, but our gas engineers in Twickenham know it for its streets: Victorian villas in St Margarets, Edwardian houses around Strawberry Hill, rows of interwar semis in Whitton and the river frontage near York House. We repair and service boilers on every major brand, sort out heating that has stopped working, install and check gas fires, and connect cookers and hobs. Each engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card and will show it to you before starting. You are told what is wrong and what it should take to put right before any tool comes out, and if a repair will do the job, we will not push you towards a new boiler.
A lot of TW1 calls are about more than one appliance. Someone books a heating engineer for a noisy boiler, then asks us to check the gas fire in the front room and the gas hob that sometimes struggles to light. That suits us. Looking at the whole installation in one visit means we spot a tired flue or a blocked air vent before it turns into a problem, and you get one set of paperwork covering everything we touched.
We also cover the whole of West London, including Richmond, Shepherds Bush, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Ealing, Barnes, Notting Hill, Kensington, Fulham and Putney. Find our gas engineers in Twickenham on Google Maps.
Twickenham households from Whitton to the riverside have taken the time to write about us. Read a few of their reviews before you decide who to call. Most found us through someone nearby.

Boilers
Whitton's interwar semis often still have the boiler in the kitchen with a hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard upstairs, and many of those systems are ready for some attention. In St Margarets, larger Victorian houses tend to run system boilers serving extensions and loft rooms. Converted flats near Twickenham station are usually on combis. We fix and service all major makes, and if replacement is worth considering, we give you a no-obligation survey and quotation first.
Central heating
When the heating in a Strawberry Hill extension feels weak or the radiators in a Whitton semi need bleeding every week, the boiler is not always the culprit. We check pumps, valves and pipework, look for sludge, and recommend a power flush only when the water in the system really needs it. Then we test the radiators again so you can feel the difference.

Hobs and cookers

Twickenham kitchens range from galley layouts in riverside flats to big open rooms in St Margarets family houses with a range cooker as the centrepiece. Whether it is a cooker, a gas hob or a full range, we connect the new appliance, take away the old connection, test the gas twice, check the ventilation, and leave you a gas safety certificate for your records.
Whether you have bought a gas cooker, range cooker, oven or hob, we connect it safely and disconnect your old one on the same visit. Once it is fitted and tested, you get a gas safety certificate for the installation.
A faint smell near the boiler cupboard or a pilot light that keeps going out in a Twickenham house can be urgent. These are the signs that mean you should call now.

Plan ahead
Twickenham covers a wide spread of housing, and the gas work changes with it. St Margarets grew up in Victorian times around private communal gardens, and its larger houses have often been extended at the back and into the loft, stretching the original pipework a long way. Strawberry Hill, named after Horace Walpole's gothic villa, has a mix of Victorian and Edwardian houses where back boilers and old gas fires still turn up. Whitton and Fulwell are mostly interwar semis and terraces, with boilers that have usually been swapped at least once and flues that need checking against today's rules. Eel Pie Island has no road access at all, only a footbridge, so jobs there mean planning parts and equipment that can be carried across. Further west, Feltham and Hanworth bring post-war estates and newer flats, many with compact boilers in kitchen cupboards. Around the town centre and the riverside near Twickenham Bridge, Georgian and Victorian houses have often been split into flats with meters in shared halls.
Match days add a local twist. Roads around the stadium have extra event day parking restrictions, so when you book a visit in Twickenham we check the fixture list and plan around it where we can. For Eel Pie Island, tell us when you call and we will bring what we need in one trip over the bridge. Landlords with homes in both Whitton and St Margarets can book the checks back to back. Out in Feltham and Hanworth, which sit in Hounslow, the same engineers and the same paperwork apply, so one firm can look after a mixed portfolio from the riverside out to TW13.

Straight answers to the questions Twickenham customers ask most about gas work.
Still not sure?
Ask an engineerYes. Fitting or connecting a gas hob or cooker is gas work, so it must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Pulling your own cooker out on its bayonet to clean behind it is fine, but a new or different appliance is an installation. We connect it, test the gas before and after, and give you a certificate. Plenty of St Margarets and Strawberry Hill kitchens have been knocked through into side returns, which often means extending the gas pipe to a new hob position. We check that run and the ventilation before connecting anything.
Not always. Anyone can call themselves a plumber, but only a Gas Safe registered engineer can legally work on gas appliances such as boilers, hobs and fires. Our team covers both, so one visit can sort out the gas side and the water side of your heating.
Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away, open windows and doors, and turn the gas off at the meter if you can. Do not use switches or flames. They make the supply safe, but repairs to pipes and appliances after the meter are up to you, so call us next to trace and fix the fault.
Our gas, boiler and heating engineers charge £130 +VAT an hour, Monday to Friday, 08.00 to 17.00, with a one hour minimum and 15 minute periods after that. Parts are charged at trade price plus 25%, and a landlord gas safety record is £130 +VAT for up to two appliances. There is no fee for coming out to Twickenham. If we need a council bay in St Margarets or near the town centre, the exact cost of that bay is added to your invoice.
Yes. We disconnect the old appliance, check the position and connection for the new one, then fit it and test it, all in one visit. If you want the old cooker taken away, we can do that too for a set disposal charge.
Landlords must have every gas appliance checked each year and give tenants a copy of the record within 28 days. The check can be done up to two months early and keep the same renewal date. Homeowners are not legally required to have one, but an annual service is strongly advised. Twickenham has plenty of rented homes, from flats near the station and the university at Strawberry Hill to family lets in Whitton and Feltham, and every landlord there needs an annual gas safety record.
Repair first, unless there is a clear reason not to. We look at the age of the boiler, whether parts are still made and how often it has broken down, then price the repair. If replacement makes more sense, we show you why and quote it separately, with no obligation.
Call us. Repairs carry a three month written guarantee and new installations twelve months. We come back, check the work and put right anything the guarantee covers.
Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card and check both sides. The front shows their photo and licence number, and the back lists the gas work they are qualified for, such as cookers or boilers. You can also check the business on the Gas Safe Register online. Our engineers show their card on every visit.
